It takes a considerable effort by our large team of
volunteers to operate Moor Crag to the standards we expect and
our greatest strength is in those people who support us as
volunteers.
We are always looking to strengthen those
teams and if you are interested in joining us, please take a
look at the opportunities below and then
get in touch for further information.

either Scouting or Guiding backgrounds however, older people are
more than welcome and fit in to this scheme pretty well. We offer
free accommodation and subsidised food and for those staying for more than 10
days, a free "Summer Staff 2008" embroidered neckerchief.
To reserve your place, download the
form, read all about it and send it off to our booking office where we'll
allocate you a space and reply with a full information pack.
We also have a limited number of paid places on summer
staff, use the same form and express an interest in being considered for a paid
role if you wish.
Water Wardens
The water warden team operate a rota which covers every weekend
of the year. Some are married couples, others operate as pairs
so that there is always at least one person around even when one
is providing safety cover on the lake. Most Wardens have power
boat qualifications and many are also qualified in Sailing,
Canoeing or both!
Wardens stay in Oakleaves, a fantastic separate house next to
the centre right on the shore of the Lake with the best views of
any building across any of our centres. The warden on duty on
any particular weekend takes complete responsibility for the
centre, supports our residents and day visitors, provides safety
cover on the lake and co-ordinates boat bookings, launching and
so on.
Wardens come together for both pre and post season meetings for
updates, training, maintenance of the centre and a lot of fun!
Backup Staff
Suddenly becoming a Water Warden can be a daunting task for some
and so our backup team was designed to be a group of people who
would, again on a rota, work with the Wardens in supporting the
users of our centre. Many backup members come in with no formal
water qualifications and we can offer recognised BCU and RYA
training to give them the qualifications and skills required to
become a water warden and provide activity instruction to our
visitors. Backup staff also assist with many of the shore based
tasks such as craft & building maintenance, ground works and so
on. Again, the backup team meet at the same time as the wardens
and also have an emphasis on fun!
